At the risk of prejudging the outcome of the police investigation into Damian Green, I really do worry about the idea of a politician conspiring with civil servants to steal confidential documents to order, which appears to be the basis of the investigation.
The Tories are outraged that Green was arreseted and his offices searched. How outraged would they have been if it had been say, Tony Benn when he was an MP, or Dennis Skinner?
Of course MPs receive leaks, but conspiricy to steal political information is at Watergate levels of criminality. If it is proved, I hope Green goes down for a long stretch in gaol, he would certainly deserve it. Then I'd want to go after Cameron & Co for attempting to pervert the course of justice.
