Sometimes I feel I'm tempting fate when I write on this blog. After the daft women of Toronto on their ladders, comes this:

Fifteen girls in Afghanistan were sprayed with acid yesterday for going to school. Some had their veils ripped off to spray them. I only wish it was the first time I've heard of it, but unfortunately I've also witnessed it, once, in Srinagar, (Indian administered) Kashmir back in 1990. Well witnessed the aftermath at any rate; in that case a woman got sprayed with acid for not covering her face. It was down by the shore of Dal Lake, somewhere along the road in this image (not my photo, its one from wikitravel.org).
It beggars belief what people will do in the name of religion. Remember all the girls, and the lady whom I helped get to hospital, were all Muslims. I'm not actually in favour of the death penalty, but there are times...
Btw, just in case you wondered, in Kashmir the lady was attacked by other women. It was men in Afghanistan I think.

I thought I heard somewhere that Islam teaches that women do not have souls, need no education, and will not be joining the men in their heaven.
Religion. Believing in one gives you the right to do dreadful things to other people.
