Following on from the map showing world life expectancy this morning ( http://bushytailedfox.blog.co.uk/2008/10/20/life-expectancy-4902342 ) here is the percentage of adults in the USA who, according to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (part of the federal governement), reported that they could not afford medical services in 2007.
So, just under 20% of the adult population failed to access needed medical services because of cost in 2007.
